Meadow Creek Farm

House Cats

When Mark and I moved in together, we had only two cats...one was his (Chinook Wind) and one was mine (Timbre).  Chinook Wind had been with Mark for well over 10 years..through thick and thin this little black vixen was by his side and biting his ankles.  She truly loves Mark and follows him around like a puppy.  Timbre was a cat I found (actually she found me) when I lived in Ohio.  She made the trip back with me when I moved back to MD...riding the entire time on the boot between my two front seats.  She is definitely a momma's cat, but she loves Mark too.  As much as Mark and I were happy about our move in together, the girls were not happy about the living situation.  Neither were accustomed to sharing their space or their owners with another cat.  It was not pretty.

Then we made things worse...we added a third cat.  (HillBilly...Billy for short).  He was a wee little kitten that was born under the hay bales in our barn.  He was adorable and being the only kitten he quickly learned to love people.  Unfortunately, it got him in trouble.  He ran to greet me and got stepped on by one of our horses.  Broke his leg.  Being the animal lovers that we are, we took him to the vet and paid to have him splinted.  $270 later we have the most expensive barn/house cat in Carroll County.  Anyway, our house cats are wonderful and we love them all...please check out their photos on their photo page.

But wait!  There's more!  Well more cats that is.  Introducing Diesel...our newest house kitty.  Someone decided our barn would be a good home for this little chap...and we agree!  He has been a wonderful addition to our gang of felines...even though the girls don't really agree.  Billy seems to really appreciate his energy...finally our teenage boy has a younger brother to romp about with.  They are all getting along (for the most part) and Diesel has brought us tons of laughs...he is really very sweet.  We think we'll keep him.

Barn Cats

No farm would be complete without barn cats...and we certainly have our share.  When we purchased the farm, there were 13 barn cats...holy moley!  I told Mark..."We are not feeding all those cats...they must earn their keep."  Well that lasted about 3 days...I was soon buying huge bags of cat food to feed these critters.  Like our other animals, they have wiggled their way into our hearts...they each have a name...
